Flossy and Copper

UPDATE!
5/03/2004

Copper is doing very well and has been adopted!

Copper, left, racing a field mate.

Flossy, sadly, is no longer with us. She had a very lovely summer and autumn hanging out at the farm, but right around the time the cold weather started, she picked up a nasty respiratory infection, and just couldn't seem to shake it. She came to us with Cushings, a condition not helped by the severe malnutrition she experienced. She started spending a lot of time lying down, and then she completely stopped eating. We were all sorry to see her go, but we are glad that she was able to have some happy times before she left. She was in her mid-30s.

Original Report:

Flossy and Copper arrived at the ERL on 8/15/2003. Copper is friendly and outgoing, a good guy in the field. In his former life he was a racehorse named "Meadow Caper." He's about seven years old, 16.1 hands. He is sound in the field, he may enjoy some light riding. Flossy is a Shetland pony of 30 years or more. Their new job at the ERL is eating - as they are forever hungry and easily exhausted. Keep checking back as the story of Flossy and Copper unfolds!
