Emergency : We Need Your Help
December 3, 2018
We urgently need your help. One December 3, 2018 the Equine Rescue League along with eight other rescue groups and county animal control officers began the process of removing 43 severely neglected horses and ponies from a large farm. These animals had no food and no water. Dozens of horses were all struggling to eat from the same haybale. They had matted manes and tails, eyes full of fear and no where to go...
Until Culpeper County Animal Control and nine different equine rescue organizations stepped in to provide shelter and sanctuary to these precious animals. If it wasn’t for our combined efforts a herd of this magnitude could not have been saved. But with so many saved comes a HUGE financial strain on all of the rescues involved. Now we are all pushed to the limit with how far our resources can go. Funds and donations are desperately needed. Each animal taken in by a rescue will need a thorough veterinary exam, dental work, multiple dewormings, vaccinations, coggins testing, farrier work, and high-quality feed, hay and bedding...let alone possible emergency medical bills for colic, injury and/or disease.
Please consider donating to the following equine rescue organizations who desperately need your support:
Culpeper County Animal Control - who is providing feed and hay to the horses still on the property waiting to be removed. Mail checks made out to CCVAS to 10144 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA 27701. Attn Jamie Bennett. In memo line put donations for rescue horse feed.

Thank you, from all of us at ERL, for caring so much about the rescued horses, donkeys, ponies and mules who seek refuge at our shelter. We couldn’t do it without you. We thank you for caring so much, and for helping us help them.

**BABY ALERT**
We are thrilled to announce the healthy arrival of Cassie’s son, who was born in the wee hours of June 25, 2018. Cassie is doing a terrific job at being a first-and-only-time mom and has taken readily to her new role of protector, guardian and milk-maker. Her beautiful son will be named ER Dawson’s Journey. Stay tuned for the touching story of how he got his name. With beautiful markings and a personality as big as the world, he is going to be loved by many.
We couldn’t be happier for both Cassie and Dawson. We are grateful they both arrived here at Promise Kept Farm where they will continue to thrive until we can place them into wonderful adoptive homes. They are not available for adoption at this time.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO VISIT - PLEASE CALL THE OFFICE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT.
