At ERL, the health and safety of our staff, volunteers and families is of paramount importance to us. As such, we are following CDC guidance and implementing the following changes due to the COVID-19 virus. Please download the document above to read more.
It is ERL's 30th Anniversary!!
30 years ago, Pat's promise to Bitsy was fulfilled when Pat started the Equine Rescue League. Bitsy, a five-year-old Thoroughbred mare, was sold at a local auction for seven dollars. Too weak to stand when she was whipped through the auction barn, she most likely did not survive the trip to the slaughter house. That day, Pat promised to Bitsy that although she was unable to save her life, she would one day have a shelter for the abused and neglected equines to find refuge in. The ERL’s ultimate mission is to take these rescued souls and rehabilitate them with the hopes of each equine going to a forever, loving family.
30 years and thousands of rescued horses later, we celebrate this momentous occasion with tremendous humility and immense gratitude. We are deeply grateful to all the staff, volunteers, and supporters who have helped throughout this journey. We truly could not have done this without you. We look forward to your continued support and partnership for the next 30 years.
As we continue our mission in these trying times, you can continue to support ERL by donating here.
The Equine Rescue League is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in 1990 that supports the responsible use of working, sport and pleasure horses, ponies, donkeys and mules. Our goals are to prevent the neglect or abuse of any equine, to offer educational programs to the community and to provide rehabilitation and adoption services for those animals in need of our services.
