The Equine Rescue League is proud to have partnered with the following organizations to better the lives of America's horses. We thank these organizations for their ongoing support in helping us help them!
The Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS), the only globally recognized organization providing standards for identifying legitimate animal sanctuaries, awarded Verified status to the Equine Rescue League in 2015. For more information on GFAS and how to verify the validity of a rescue organization, please visit their website here.
The EQUUS Foundation is the only national charity in the United States 100% dedicated to ensuring the welfare of America's horses and fostering the horse-human bond. Their mission is to protect America's horses and strengthen the bond between horses and people. The Equine Rescue League was designated Guardian status in August 2018 - Guardians are organizations that demonstrate a commitment to public transparency by their willingness to publish and share extensive data about their programs, horse care practices, and governance. The Unwanted Horse Coalition (UHC) is a broad alliance of equine organizations that have joined together under the American Horse Council to educate the horse industry about the problem of the unwanted horse. The UHC has developed the Operation Gelding program, which provides guidance, materials, promotional, and financial support to groups that wish to host low- or no-cost gelding clinics. The impetus for these clinics is that the castration of a stallion will help prevent overbreeding, in turn reducing the number of unwanted horses. More info is available on their website.
